About me
My name is Theo van Kempen, born in 1953 and started my career in 1973 as a draftsman for mechanical engineering at the Dutch crane building company NKM, now known as NKM Noell Special Cranes GmbH.
I started after my studies at the MTS, which in these days is equivalent to the HTS.
After following evening studies, in addition to my work and young family, I progressed to the position of "structural engineer for mechanical engineering" in 1980. This work has given me a lot of insight into all aspects of crane construction, and I really enjoyed doing it.
Machine building says it all, my specialization lay in the mechanical part of our cranes. When I started drawing the mechanical part was already my specialization, although I also stayed in touch with steel constructions and pneumatics. This was very important since you have three men making a complete product, and you must be able to assist each other.
Eventually, in 1988, I advanced to the position of after sales manager. I continued to do this until my retirement in 2018.
In my last position everything actually came together. My technical knowledge and insight from my studies and previous jobs and my natural talent for organization and customer contact. Because of my knowledge and experience I was a stable factor within the company and a source of information for everyone.
I have a family with 4 children and besides my work at NKM, me and my wife had an extra job for the weekends and some evenings during the week in the hospitality industry. All this to provide as much as possible for our maintenance and to give our children all opportunities, so they could follow the studies they wanted and were able to.
Hard work is therefore not unknown to me and I certainly do not shy away from a challenge.
After my retirement I started my own business as K-Consulting &Trading B.V..
Through my connections with various factories I can offer a very wide range of products for various industries. The focus is on the technical industry where my experience lies, but of course I am also open to provide for other industries. My resources are so diverse that I believe I can facilitate everyone.
My first client was M-Tec, where I was involved fairly early on.
I helped to create a standardization in the work environment, sothey would have a good basis to continue to work with it. Furthermore, I monitored the document flow and helped in the correct way of archiving and stimulated to actively keep this up.
In addition, I was also active for purchasing and sales and involved in new and current projects.
As a spider in the web I was also involved in the after dales of several projects. My great value was my knowledge and experience of many years, with which I was able to help lay a stable foundation for the future of this company.
